Foreign Matter Testing
Foreign Matter analysis is conducted on all cannabis matrixes including flower, concentrates and infused edibles. If any foreign matter is detected it will be documented and photographed showing the detected matter with reported count.
Detection Results
Heavy Metals Testing
Cannabis cultivated outdoors can be susceptible to contamination due to the plants ability to hype accumulate metals and other elements from the soil and /or water in which they are grown. While less common, Cannabis grown indoors can also be contaminated when exposed to fertilizers or pesticides that may contain heavy metals.
Microbiological Testing
Cannabis can be susceptible to microbes, such as Mold (fungi), mycotoxins and bacteria like mold. Microbial testing on cannabis can be divided into:
Mycotoxins Testing
Mycotoxin analysis is conducted on all cannabis matrixes including flower, concentrates and infused edibles. Mycotoxin detection utilizes high sensitivity analysis using liquid chromatography with Mass Spectrometry.

Chemical Residue: Pesticides and Herbicides Testing
Pesticide analysis is conducted on all cannabis products including flower, concentrates and infused edibles. Pesticide detection utilizes high sensitivity analysis using liquid and gas chromatography. The are 66 pesticides that are tested at SCF Labs.
Residual Solvents Testing
Chemical solvents are used for some cannabis extraction processes and then purged out when the process is done. The trace amounts of chemicals left in the extract are residual solvents. Michigan regulates how much residual solvents are allowed in concentrates before they can be sold.
Soil pH Testing
pH is a numerical scale that serves to measure how acidic or alkaline a substance like cannabis is. The scale or range is from 1 to 14 where 1 is the most acidic and 14 has the most alkaline. The medium of 7 means the cannabis is neither acidic nor alkaline.
Water Activity Testing
Water Activity is a measurement taken by a cannabis testing laboratory to identify water availability and gauge how vulnerable cannabis is to microbial contamination from contaminants like bacteria, yeast, mold, fungi, and viruses. Essentially, it is a thermodynamic measurement that indicates the availability of water in a product.
Potency Analysis Testing
Potency testing looks at the total amount of cannabinoid content, including tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and other Phytocannabinoids such as cannabinoil (CBD), cannabigerol (CBG), etc. Potency testing is typically performed by liquid chromatography with UV detectors to determine the amount of major cannabinoids
Moisture Content Testing
Moisture content refers to the total amount of water contained within a cannabis product. Moisture content is is measured and expressed as a percentage of the total weight of the tested sample. The higher the moisture content, the greater the chances that the cannabis flower is at risk for developing mold and other containments.
Terpenes Testing
Terpenes are naturally occurring chemical compounds found in plants and some animals. They’re responsible for the aromas, flavors, and even colors associated with various types of vegetation. In terms of cannabis, terpenes are what make certain strains smell or taste different from others. Cannabis contains more than 150 types of terpenes.
Beyond providing cannabis with its unique bouquet of scents, terpenes also hold diverse functions in the plant and can produce a range of therapeutic and mood-altering effects in cannabis consumers.

Vape Concentration Testing
Vaporizer cartridges are small vessels that contain smokable cannabis oil which is viscous. Additives are needed to thin out thick cannabis oil, so it’s suitable for vaping. There are some potentially harmful additives out . Examples of additives include polyethylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, and coconut oil.
